NEW JERUSALEM

All About Jesus

Jesus. He is everything for us. He is the one we exist for, cling to and adore.  At the center of who we are and all we do - simply stated- it's all about Jesus. We want for you to fall in love with Him and know Him like we do. Keep reading to learn more about this Jesus we just can't get enough of.

Who is He?

Jesus is the Son of God and also the completeness of God in human form. He had extremely modest and humble beginnings being born in a stable in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. His birth and the events surrounding it were prophecy coming to life right before the eyes of the people around Him concerning the Jewish Messiah. But from many, He was discounted and rejected. As He grew, His wisdom and teachings left those who heard Him in awe. Although fully God, He was also fully man and experienced everything that you and I could possible encounter throughout our lives. Temptation, rejection, friendship, betrayal, loneliness, longing.....these were all His to bear along with many more. There was something that made Him different....sinlessness. He remained perfect in all His ways making up for all of our failures. He is all that is perfect, good, just, and holy. He is love in its purest, most passionate form. Jesus is, always has been and always will be.

What He Did?

Jesus changed the world forever! He showed people the love and compassion of God like they had never seen before through His words, provision, healing, forgiveness, service and sacrifice. He performed countless miracles all accounted for in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. He made the deaf hear again, the blind see, the crippled walk and the dead rise up to life again. He made the most unlikely of  men, from every walk of life, whether professional or tradesmen , disciples and fishers of men. He came for the lowly and rejected, the lonely and abandoned - and yes - the sinner. He walked alongside the very people and on the very Earth He created simply because God wanted to live among the people He loved so much. Sadly, many of  those people didn't see Him for who He was, rejecting and hating Him. Ultimately, out of obedience to His Father in Heaven, He surrendered to death on a cross, a horrific and ugly death.

Why He Matters?

"So, who cares?", you might ask. "What does that have to do with me and what does it matter anyway?". What does a man who lived so long ago matter in today's world....in my world? He matters because He IS the answer to a big problem. You see, sin has always been the problem - our problem. Sin is what separates us from a perfect, pure, and holy God who can have no part in sin. You see, because of our sinfulness we deserve punishment, death, and complete separation from God forever. Despite our sin, God's love is so great for us that He had to make a way for us to be made clean again so that we could be with Him.  Jesus IS the Son of God who was sent to this Earth, in the flesh, to do for us what no one else could - we couldn't even do it for ourselves. His blood, perfect and sinless was the only way God could be reunited with His people. Because we matter to God, Jesus died to take away the sin of the world, once and  for all. Why should he matter to you? Because without Him there is no hope, no love, no peace, no forgiveness. So, do you know Him? Have you experienced the love and peace of Jesus in your life? Have you asked Him to clean off the stain sin has left on you and bring you close to Him? If not, we'd love to teach you more about who He is and show you how to come into a friendship with our awesome and wonderful Jesus!
